(She wanted to make "scary" faces while posing with her jack-o-lantern.)
A couple of months before Halloween, she started telling us she wanted to dress up as a spider. I have no idea where that idea came from, but she consistently stuck with it. We originally picked out a pre-made costume online, but when I went back to order it, it was sold out in her size. She didn't like any of the other spider costumes (and BD was annoyed because they all only had 6 legs as part of the costume - the child's arms were supposed to be the other 2 legs. "DUMB" proclaimed BD), so we decided to DIY a spider costume.
It turned out pretty dang cute!!
BD and MC were responsible for the spider legs and figuring out how to attach them to her body (foam pipe insulation spray painted with pink stripes and attached to a paper plate holder with backpack-style straps made of black ribbon). I was responsible for the rest of the outfit - which all came from Target and WalMart.
The costume survived the Halloween parade at preschool that morning, and then we went over to a friend's house for trick-or-treating. GL wore a pumpkin hat as her costume and slept through her first ToT.
The girls had a great time and got tons of candy! MC did a great job of saying "Trick or Treat" and "thank you" at each house!
