Thanksgiving 2014

This year for Thanksgiving we had 'Friends'giving - we had 2 other families with toddlers over for the holiday. It was so fun! We split up the menu so that each family only made 3-4 dishes, and everyone agreed that it was so nice to have a big meal with only 1/3 of the work! All of the food turned out really well, and everyone went home with some leftovers.

As you can imagine, with 3 toddlers running around, we didn't have much time to take any pictures. BD managed to snap this one of MC as she waited patiently by the door for her friends to arrive. (And yes, you can see her pajamas peeking out underneath the dress because she refused to take them off. We pick our battles!)

See her in this same dress from last year here.

Tar Heel Weekend

A couple of weekends ago was UNC Homecoming weekend. We took MC to Tar Heel Town - the big pep rally before the game - to see the football players do the Victory Walk and hear the band play.

We bundled up because it was c-c-c-cold outside!!

They also had a big, inflatable slide that MC really loved. It wasn't crowded so we rode it with her several times.

The next day we took her to her first home Carolina basketball game of the season. Luckily it wasn't crowded because we only made it 8 minutes into the game before I was up and walking the concourse with her. She had fun and did great overall (the secret to our success: plenty of contraband snacks sneaked in the diaper bag) . She loved hearing the the pep band play and seeing the Olate Dogs perform at half time.

You Might Be a Toddler If...

you see a plastic mixing bowl and think "party hat!"... (and, more importantly, if you insist that everyone in your vicinity also wear one!!)

Playground Fun

Each week after our music class, we go to a nearby playground and spend some time with one of our friends from class.

We met this particular little friend in my moms group, back in the summer of 2012, so it's been really fun watching these two grow together.

MC is "hiding" behind a tree during one of their favorite games of Hide and Seek. Well, it's a toddler version of H&S, with mamas still heavily involved and lots of hiding in the same spot over and over...but it sure it cute to watch them play!

"Watch me, Mama!" as she 'swings' from the top of the slide before sliding down.

Crazy static hair from the slide!

Enjoying the Fall

We've been enjoying the beautiful fall weather this year! Here are some pictures from the last couple of weeks:

One weekend BD took her to a fall festival at one of the local nurseries. They had a big tractor pulling a hayride which she loved!

We went looking for pumpkins one Monday at a pumpkin lot patch near our house. They had been totally picked out over the weekend, but there was still plenty for us to explore. She was really interested in the weirdly shaped, bumpy pumpkins.

They had several old tractors and trucks for the kids to climb on.

She wasn't in much of a "look at the camera" mood on this day, obviously!

We've eaten lunch/snack out on our picnic blanket in the front yard a lot. (On this particular day I was just taking advantage of her good mood and the good light to practice with my camera.)

State Fair 2014

A couple of weeks ago, we took MC to the NC State Fair. We've taken her to the fair every year since she was born, and each year it gets more fun! This year we had beautiful weather and a relatively uncrowded day.

Family Selfie - October 24, 2014

The Garden/Flower Show area is one of our favorite parts of the fair. They always have cute photo cut-outs...although MC is still not quite big enough for them!

Stopping to have a healthy snack while we explored all of the beautiful flower displays. (And yes...we did let her have some fair food! We all shared an order of hand-cut fries and a fried Milky Way.)

We thought this year she'd be tall enough to ride some of the kiddie rides, but unfortunately she's not, so we just stuck to our tradition of the carousel...which is really her favorite ride anyway!

Just Being Silly

Someone has discovered that she can fit inside the oven in her play kitchen!

Happy Halloween 2014

On Halloween Eve we went over to some friends' house for pumpkin carving and pizza eating. We had so much fun that I didn't get many pics, but I did catch MC in her Halloween shirt.

On Halloween Day, we went over to Southern Village for their big party in the community green space. They had a live band playing and all of the businesses set up tables with activities for the kids. Much to MC's delight, there were several Halloween inflatables!

After our Disney World trip last month, MC has been very interested in Dumbo, so she picked an elephant costume for this year.

We ran into some other families that we know, and the kiddos had fun all running around together.

MC the elephant!
