After months of rejecting every puree I offered her, last week I put a big chunk of cut-in-half banana down on her high chair tray, mostly just to see what would happen. Much to my surprise and delight, she immediately picked it up and, after a little bit of examination, put it straight in her mouth!! She smushed it between her fingers and smeared it everywhere but she also ate it!

I did some quick research into baby led weaning, and we've pretty much not looked back! (Weaning in this case just means adding solid foods to the baby's diet; we're not weaning from breastfeeding at this point.)
As long as I put things down in big chunks that she can pick up and feed herself, she is loving all things solid foods.
So far she's had banana, avocado, cucumber, and roasted carrots. This week we're going to try roasted broccoli, bow tie pasta, and scrambled eggs.

She makes a huge mess but Kip is always willing to step in for clean-up duty*.
*I don't let him eat avocado. There is some debate on this topic, but avocado contains persin, which some data is showing can be toxic to dogs. We choose to err on the safe side of the debate. [reference article]
