Clearly, I am talking about the marriage of chocolate and peanut butter...and this easy-peasy cake proves it.
It is a regular box-mix Devil's Food chocolate cake, prepared in in two 8-in round pans. The filling in between the layers is vanilla pudding mixed with peanut butter. The icing is made with the remainder of the pudding/pb filling mixed with cool whip.
For the garnish I dipped peanuts in melted dark chocolate and dropped it by tablespoons on wax paper.
BD liked the frosting better than the filling. He thought the filling was a little too gooey. Probably a little less peanut butter in the filling would solve that problem. Or you could use the frosting as the filling.
