Tales of the Tail: The One with Clean Teeth

Kip had his teeth cleaned today and a couple of other minor procedures while he was asleep. He's still a little loopy from the drugs, but everything looked fine, and he should be back to his normal, happy self tomorrow.

In the meantime, he would like to show off his big, scary gleaming, white teeth:

Nice! Our vet is always trying to have us get Abby's teeth cleaned. She has TWO teeth with tartar, that's it. I'm not paying the $350 for the procedure, especially when she is 13 years old and does not react well to anesthesia. Ugh.

Kip is so pretty! What happened to his leg?

P & D: I don't think I'd do it for just two teeth either - that's $175 per tooth! The bandage on his leg is from the IV and catheter they put in during the procedure. ~LA

Buster is due for a teeth cleaning in six months and I am terrified. I don't want to knock him out to do it. Am I being irrational?

Artemisia: I don't blame you for being terrified; I was really freaked out, too! This was the second time Kip's teeth have been cleaned, and I cried both times when we dropped him off! But in the end, of course, everything turned out just fine. My suggestion is to not be shy -- ask the vet as many questions as you have to so that you're comfortable. Good luck! ~LA
