In Honor of the Final Four

A small glimpse into the meaning of Carolina Blue:

"Carolina Basketball goes national this week. America will get reacquainted with our Hall of Fame coach. The nation will get to know Hansbrough, who in the glow of the win said, "I'm just trying to keep it classy," when asked why he didn't want to jump on the scorer's table or hurl the ball to the roof of the Charlotte Bobcats Arena when time expired. For the next seven days, as the sports world focuses on San Antonio, casual fans will once again get a glimpse of the Carolina Way that we take for granted. Suits on the road. Help a teammate. Keep it classy. If that doesn't make you proud, then take a word of advice from Williams and enjoy it for just a minute."

Sunday Stitches: A Series (Part 9 of X)

(Part 8 of the series is here.)

I've been working on this piece for almost 3 months now, and I'm really starting to get an I'm-never-going-to-finish-this feeling. I still have a lot of work to do on it - finish the background behind the lettering, a scalloped border around the whole thing, then a checkered border around that, and, and, and...the list goes on forever! As my mom said, it's turning into an exercise in perseverance. It doesn't help that I mainly only work on it on the weekends, and now that the weather is getting pretty again, I'm not as content to sit on the couch and stitch all weekend.

Here's what I've done over the last few weeks:

School Days, School Days - Dear Old Golden Rule Days

Okay, so I don't think I'll be studying the golden rule, but I did get accepted to grad school! I'll be starting in the fall in the MS in Technical Communication program. I am already registered for classes - ENG 512: Theory and Application of Writing Until Your Hand Falls Off and ENG 517: Advanced Techniques for Writing After Your Hand Has Fallen Off. I am both excited and nervous.

Sharpen your pencils, kids. We're going back to school!

...aaaand we're back....

So BD and I just spent the last 6 days off frolicking in the snow in Breckenridge, CO for a late winter vacation. The weather was absolutely perfect, and we had a fabulous time.

Here is the view we woke up to every morning:

They've had lots of snow this year so the conditions were great for skiing. We got fresh snow almost every day.

See...lots of snow this year:

We also did some snowmobiling. They took us up and across the continental divide. These pics are from the Chicago Ridge portion of the continental divide - about 13,000 feet elevation. The views were incredible, and the fresh powder was several feet deep.

Tired after a hard day of skiing:
