Meet the Disgustingtons

I wish I could tell you that this was some sort of cool science experiment. But, alas, it is really just the ingredients for a run-of-the-mill garden salad (circa late fall '07, by the looks of it). Needless to say, the offending parties have been excavated and the drawer has been removed and sanitized. Even the Disgustingtons have their limits.

So...wanna come over for dinner?

New & Improved Carolina Basketball - Now with Video!

In case you think all I do is cross stitch and go to basketball games and hang out with Kip...well, you'd be exactly right. However, Sunday was our last game to attend for the season, so after this post you'll be spared until next season. But we might buy full season tickets next year instead of half (*evil laughter*)...I'll have even more material with which to bore entertain you!

In the videos you don't quite get the true sense of how loud it is in the arena, but you will witness the nosebleed-ness of our seats.

Pre-game warmups - these are really just the show off warmups. They come out and do all their stretching and real warmups and then go back in the locker room for a while. This is their "official" entrance.

All the cool kids go to Carolina basketball games - even the "Blues Brothers" make an appearance at most home games. You can see more of them here or read more about them here.

Even the littlest Tarheels get in on the action. We like to train them up right from an early age around here.

Sunday Stitches: A Series (Part 8 of X)

(Part 7 of the series is here.)

I finished the bottom half last week and started on the lettering. As you can tell, I didn't get very far. Something is wonky with the "O" and it has taken me a while to figure out where I made the mistake. I think I've found it, now I'll have to unstitch practically the whole letter to fix it. GRRRRR...aren't hobbies supposed to be FUN?!

Perhaps He'd Prefer Evian?

Because Kip has skin allergies, BD came up with the idea to fill Kip's water bowl with filtered water from the fridge dispenser. (Yeah, I'm not sure I see the connection there either.) We pour out and refill Kip's water bowl frequently so it is fresh and not a stagnant, drool/water mix. (mental image: YUM!) So for several days I listened to "friendly" reminders from BD to remember the filtered water! don't forget to use filtered water! he needs filtered water! (me: *roll eyes*) After several days of this, I noticed that every time I was pouring out the exact amount that I was refilling. Then I realized that every time Kip went out, he made a bee-line for his outside water bowl (filled from the *gasp* garden hose!) and guzzled it dry. Since I'm such a smart girl, I came to the conclusion that HE DOESN'T LIKE FILTERED WATER. So, to recap...he prefers inexpensive tap water over filtered and yet he scratches himself silly if I feed him anything other than $50/bag dry food. Although I did catch him eyeballing the bottled waters in the pantry this morning...

Sunday Stitches: A Series (Part 7 of X)

Also, I am planning to start posting other stuff besides cross stitching again as soon as I am not so! busy! at work. Stay tuned...

Sunday Stitches: A Series (part 6 of X)

(Part 5 of the series is here.)

At six weeks into the project, I am almost half-way finished with the inner portion of the piece. This half includes the most intricate shading, so I anticipate the rest will go somewhat faster.

Week six progress:

Sunday Stitches: A Series (Part 5 of X)

(Part 4 of the series is here.)

After taking last week off (we had company visiting), I am back in the swing of things around here. At least on the crafting front anyway...we won't talk about how the laundry is piled 3 ft high.

Here is my progress this week...
